Maple Vanilla Chip Cookies

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream shortening, butter and brown sugar. Add eggs, vanilla and maple flavoring, beating well. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour and baking soda. Gradually add to the creamed mixture. Stir in the walnuts and chips by hand.
  2. Drop by rounded tablespoonsful onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350 for 8 0 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Do not overbake! Cool for 2 minutes before removing from baking sheets.
  3. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and powdered sugar. Beat in flavoring and enough milk to achieve desired consistency. Frost cooled cookies and sprinkle with chopped walnuts.
