Maple Jell-o Style Gelatin

From a recipe booklet out out by the Quebec Federation of Maple Producers. I haven't tried it yet but it sounds delicious and different. I'm translating from French so if something is unclear please ask me. Show more

Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 1 12 cups  of neutral gelatin (1 envelope?, ie Knox brand)
  • 1 14 cups maple syrup
  • 1 14 cups  fruit juice (apple, cranberry, pear, melon etc...)
  • 1  cup  fruit (well drained fruit salad, berries etc...)

Directions

  1. Place gelatin in a small bowl, add 60 ml (1/4 cup) fruit juice.
  2. Let sit fore 5 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, heat maple syrup in a pot.
  4. Add the gelatin to the warm syrup and stir until completely dissolved.
  5. Add the rest of the fruit juice and pour into a mold.
  6. Refrigerate until the jello sets.
  7. To serve, cut into cubes and place in a dessert coupe.
  8. garnish with the fruit salad or berries.
