Leola' Sweet and Sour Sauce

Direct from Chinese cookbook. This is your basic recipe that you do not need juice to make.

Yields: 1 1/4 cup

Ingredients

  • 34 cup water
  • 2  tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2  tablespoons  rice wine vinegar or 2  tablespoons  aji mirin, which has a little different flavor
  • 3  tablespoons ketchup
  • 23 cup white sugar

Directions

  1. Place all ingredients in pot and mix. Water must be cold for the cornstarch. Bring to a boil.
  2. Shut off heat and move pan.
  3. Sauce will thicken as it sits.
  4. Serve fresh or freeze up to 3 months.
