Lazy Fruitcake

  1. Cut orange slices into small pieces. (It's easy if you put them in the freezer for an hour before hand.).
  2. Combine candy,dates, nuts and coconut and dredge with 1/4 cup of the 4 cups of flour.
  3. Set aside.
  4. Sift the rest of the flour with soda and salt.
  5. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
  6. Add eggs one at a time.
  7. Add vanilla and mix well.
  8. Add flour mixture alternatley with buttermilk.
  9. Fold in date and candy mixture.
  10. Pour into 2 well greased loaf pans.
  11. Bake at 300 degrees for 2 hours.
  12. Pour glaze over hot cakes.
  13. Freezes like a charm!
