  1. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Add food coloring. Sift together dry ingredients. Alternate mixing buttermilk and dry ingredients into butter mixture. Bake in 2 8 inch pans at 350 until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool and split cakes to make 4 layers.
  2. For frosting: Cook milk and flour over med heat until thickened, cool completely! Cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla and milk/flour mixture and beat well.
