Korokke

Although not originally a Japanese recipe, Korokke is widely enjoyed in Japan today. There are many kinds of korokke, both sweet and savory. They are basically deep fried croquettes.   1. Peel potatoes, cut into chunks and boil until soft.
  2. Mash potatoes.
  3. Mince onion, place in a frying pan and saute.
  4. Add ground beef to onions and continue to saute.
  5. Remove from heat, season with salt and pepper and stir well.
  6. Form into flat, oval-shaped pieces.
  7. Coat each piece in flour.
  8. Dip in beaten egg.
  9. Coat entirely in panko.
  10. Fry in 350 degree oil until browned.
