Ketchup Marinade for Steak or Chicken

This is a great marinade for barbecuing, since you don't have to add anything while the steak or chicken is cooking, but it gets a great barbecue sauce flavour.

Ingredients

• 1⁄4 cup vinegar
• 1⁄2 cup onion
• 1⁄2 cup water
• 1  tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
• 1⁄2 cup ketchup
• 1  teaspoon sugar
• 1⁄2 teaspoon dry mustard
• 3⁄4 teaspoon salt
• 1⁄4 teaspoon ground pepper

Directions

1. Dice onion very finely.
2. Add all other ingredients.
3. Stir well.
4. Pour over chicken or steak.
5. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 8 hours.
6. Remove meat from marinade and cook on barbecue to desired doneness.
7. Pour marinade into a small pot and bring to a boil.
8. Reduce heat and simmer until fairly thick.
9. Serve warm sauce on the side.
