Jill's Apple Chuck Roast

Ingredients
- 3 -4 lbs boneless chuck roast
- 2 (14 1/2ounce) cans chopped tomatoes, drained
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 4 tablespoons flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 1⁄2 cups applesauce
- 16 ounces sauerkraut, drained
- 1⁄2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1⁄4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 bay leaf
Directions
- Heat skillet over med high heat. Trim excess fat from roast and place in preheated pan. Brown roast on all sides.
- In crockpot, add tomatoes,onion, flour, salt,pepper,garlic pwdr, applesauce,sauerkraut, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and bay leaf. Give it a little stir and place browned beef in crock pot. Set crock pot to low 8-10 hours or till beef is falling apart. Shred beef and and mix with sauce. Serve over mashed potatoes or on rolls.
