Jell-O Popcorn Balls

I have made this good treat for the kids and they always loven them. These popcorn balls are great for the holidays and they can be colored in red for Valentine's, green for St. Patrick's, orange for Halloween, green and red for Christmas, etc. The orange and strawberry are the flavors the kids like the best. Directions

  1. Place popped popcorn in a large bowl, lightly buttered.
  2. Bring the corn syrup and jello mix to a boil in a saucepan.
  3. Boil over medium heat until mixture separates into a hard thread when dropped into very cold water, about 6 to 7 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and pour over popcorn, mixing quickly to coat well. Let stand for about 3 to 5 minutes and with your hands buttered, shape into 1-1/2 inch balls.
  5. NOTE: these balls can also be made using Kool-Aid unsweetened drink in any flavor instead of the Jell-O, and it is the same procedure.
