Jamaican French Toast

I'm glad someone requested this recipe. I had forgoten I had it and it's excellent. I love to have sliced fresh pineapple with this french toast for breakfast. Enjoy! Show more

  1. Cut french bread into 1& 1/2 inch slices.
  2. Place slices on a wire rack and let stand overnight.
  3. In a large bowl whip together the orange juice, whipping cream, eggs, cinnamon, mutmeg, ginger and sugar.
  4. Whisk until very well blended and frothy.
  5. Pour into a 9x13 inch pan.
  6. Lay bread on top of egg mixture for 1 minute.
  7. Turn and let stand for 5-10 minutes.
  8. In a large heavy skilled melt half the butter over medium high heat.
  9. Place half the soaked bread into the hot pan and cook until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  10. Turn and brown the other side.
  11. Remove and set aside.
  12. Repeat with the remaining butter and soaked bread slices.
  13. Serve hot with sliced fruit, powdered sugar and syrup.
