Izakaya Sakura Sukiyaki Sandwich

This recipe is from a local Japanese restaurant. Bread can be toasted, if you wish.

Ingredients

  • 4  slices  fresh  French bread
  • 12 lb  round steak, thinly sliced
  • 12 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2  lettuce leaves
  • Sauce

  • 2  tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2  tablespoons sake
  • 1  tablespoon sugar

Directions

  1. In a saucepan, cook onion until softened. Set aside.
  2. In the same saucepan, cook beef on high heat until meat is medium rare. Add cooked onion and mix well.
  3. Add premixed sauce and simmer on medium-low heat, stirring constantly until the liquid is absorbed.
  4. On two slices of bread, top with sukiyaki beef and lettuce. Place remaining bread on top to make two sandwiches.
