Irish Countryside Shephard's Pie

Ingredients

  • 1  lb  ground sirloin
  • 1 (10 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 2  tablespoons fresh thyme
  • 2  tablespoons fresh sage
  • 2  tablespoons fresh rosemary
  • 2  tablespoons fresh chervil
  • 2  cups  frozen mixed vegetables
  • 2  cups  beef gravy
  • 12 lb potato, peeled and cubed
  • 12 lb  rutabaga, peeled and cubed
  • 1 (14 1/2ounce) can  beef stock
  • 1  cup  cream
  • 12 cup butter
  • 1  cup  shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1  large onion, diced
  • 1  garlic clove, minced

Directions

  1. Brown ground sirloin and drain add onions and garlic and cook five minutes.
  2. Mix together herbs, tomato sauce and gravy and pour over beef and mixed vegetables in a casserole dish.
  3. in beef stock and water boil potatoes and rutagabagas together cook about 30 minutes until tender Mash with cream and butter.
  4. Mix in cheese and spread over meat mixture.
  5. bake on 350 for 35 minutes.
