Ingredients

  • 2 12 cups dry pinto beans (1 lb)
  • 2  teaspoons  minced garlic
  • 1  tablespoon salt
  • 1  bay leaf (optional)
  • 1  teaspoon  smoked paprika
  • 1  tablespoon olive oil (to prevent foaming out of release valve)

Directions

  1. Place all ingredients in IP.
  2. Pour in water about 5 cups of water. (Water should cover 1" above the pinto beans).
  3. Stir.
  4. Set IP to pressure cook (high) for 30 minutes with steam release valve set to the Seal position. (There will be approximately a 12 minute warm up before 30 minute cook time begins).
  5. Natural release for 10 minutes (the float valve should have dropped).
  6. Manual release the remaining pressure by moving the steam release valve to the vent position.
