Hot Vanilla (White Hot "chocolate")

I decided to try and make this once when I was really getting a craving for white hot chocolate, but didn't have any white chocolate on hand. I experimented with it until I got it the way I like it. This is a recipe for vanilla purists, so it's simple, but good. If you want to add whipped cream or spices, go ahead, I'd like to hear what you've found tastes good! For me though, this hits the spot and kids love it! Show more

Ready In: 3 mins

Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 4  cups milk (I actually use powdered milk so I can control the milky creaminess, but any kind of milk works great)
  • 12 cup white sugar
  • 2  teaspoons vanilla

Directions

  1. Place milk in saucepan and heat to a low boil. (Be sure not to keep it boiling for more than a minute or two at most since milk scalds easily!).
  2. Add sugar and vanilla. Mix until sugar is dissolved. (a little less than a minute).
  3. Remove from heat, let cool for 5 to 10 minutes, enjoy!
