Hot-Chocolate Shortbread Sticks from Parenting Magazine

Ingredients

  •  Pam cooking spray
  • 2  cups all-purpose flour
  • 12 cup  instant  hot chocolate powder
  • 14 teaspoon salt
  • 12  tablespoons butter, softened
  • 12 cup sugar
  • 1  egg
  • 1 (4 1/4ounce) package  vanilla frosting

Directions

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 350. Line a 9 x 13 pan with aluminum foil and spray with Pam.
  2. 2. Combine flour, hot chocolate mix, and salt in medium bowl.
  3. 3. Beat butter sugar in another medium bowl with electric mixer on high until light and fluffy (about 3 min). Add egg and beat well. Slowly add flour mixture and continue until just combined, scraping the sides of the bowl.
  4. 4. Spread dough evenly in the prepared pan. Bake until firm to touch about 30-35 minute Transfer to wire rack to cool for 5 minute Lift foil and cookies from pan and place on cutting board. Slice in half length wise and cut each half crosswise in 3/4 in pieces.
  5. 5. After they have cooled, dot with frosting and let dry before storing.
