Homemade Pizza Sauce

Yields: 2 cups
Ingredients
- 1 cup tomatoes, crushed
- 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon onion, minced
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar (can use Splenda blend)
- 1⁄4 cup dry red wine (Burgundy is fine)
- 1⁄2 teaspoon basil
- 1⁄2 teaspoon oregano
- 1⁄2 teaspoon thyme
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon black pepper
Directions
- Mix crushed tomatoes, paste, onion, garlic and brown sugar in saucepan over medium heat until about to boil and brown sugar dissolves well.
- Then, add red wine, herbs and spices and simmer over low heat for about 15 minutes. Let it cool and spread on a pizza crust.
- NOTE: sauce is enough for two pizzas or use half for one pizza and refrigerate or freeze the reminder.
