Homemade Kahlua in 20 Minutes or Less

I've been making this for a long time now. It's closer to Kamora than Kahlua but for the time and cost, give it a try at least once. I think you'll be very surprised at how good it is! Sept. 2014: I discovered Kahlua is rum based so, try substituting rum for the vodka. I also realized brown sugar was white sugar with molasses added, so I now use 1 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon molasses. Show more

Directions

  1. Brew up 3 cups of your favorite coffee, make it strong, preferably in a standard drip coffee maker.
  2. Remove from the coffee maker and add the brown sugar (or sugar/molasses combo) right in the coffee pot. It will dissolve quicker while the coffee is hot, of course. Once the sugar is dissolved, throw in a couple of ice cubes to cool it down quicker.
  3. Finally, add the vanilla and vodka.
  4. That's all there is to it. Use immediately or let it set a while. You'll have enough to fill a 750 ml bottle.
