Heavy Cake

This is a recipe from my MIL. I believe it came from her parents and Cornwall, Eng.

Ready In: 50 mins

Serves: 20

Yields: 1 pan

Ingredients

  • 4  cups flour
  • 1  cup sugar
  • 14 lb butter (margarine)
  • 1 12 cups  Crisco
  • 1 (10 ounce) package currants
  • 2  teaspoons  lemon extract
  • 1 12 cups water
  • 1  teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. Preheat oven 375 deg.
  2. Mix all the ingredients in your mixer bowl, just to blend together.
  3. Pour into a greased 15 X 10 inch jelly roll pan.
  4. Bake at 375 deg. for 40 minutes.
