Hazel's Bars

Ingredients
BASE
- 1⁄2 cup butter
- 1⁄4 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup graham flour
TOPPING
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1⁄2 cups brown sugar
- 1⁄4 cup flour
- 1⁄2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup nuts, chopped (walnuts or pecans are good)
Directions
- BASE - Preheat oven to 350*. Mix butter, brown sugar and graham flour to form a dough. Pat evenly into a 9" x 13" pan that you have sprayed with cooking spray (or greased with butter). Bake @ 350* for 12-15 minutes.
- TOPPING - Lower oven temperature to 325*. Beat eggs, vanilla, brown sugar, flour and baking powder for 1 minute on "low" speed of a mixer.
- Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
- Spread over crust.
- Return to oven and bake @ 325* for 25-30 minutes.
