Hazelnut Caramel Crunch Bars

Ingredients
Crust
- 1⁄2 cup butter, softened
- 1⁄2 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1⁄2 cups flour
Topping
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1⁄2 cup butter
- 1⁄4 cup dark corn syrup
- 1⁄2 cup heavy cream
- 2 cups hazelnuts, toasted (toast in 350 for 10 minutes)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Line 9 x 13 pan with aluminum foil.
- Spray with cooking spray.
- Beat together butter, sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla.
- Add flour and mix until crumbly.
- Press into 9 x 13 pan.
- Cook for 10 minutes or until golden brown.(I didn't write down how much cooking time on this section, this is a guess).
- In a medium saucepan melt sugar, butter, and corn syrup until boiling. Boil 2 minutes.
- Remove from heat.
- Stir in Cream and nuts.
- Pour over crust.
- Bake 22 minutes or until caramel is colored and bubbly.(watch carefully).
- Let cool.
