Haystacks

These sweet things were my favorite thing about going my great-grandmothers house for Christmas! Can also use Semi sweet Chocolate chips instead, or with Butterscotch. Show more

Yields: 40-60 peices

Ingredients

  • 1 (6 ounce) package  butterscotch chips
  • 1 (5 ounce) package  chow mein noodles
  • 1 -2  cup peanuts (optional) or 1 -2  cup cashews (optional)

Directions

  1. In the top of a double broiler, melt Butterscotch chips over boiling water at low heat.
  2. Stir occasionally until all melted.
  3. Remove from heat and stir quickly to prevent sticking.
  4. Mix in Chow Mein noodles and nuts.
  5. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto wax paper.
  6. Let stand until firm.
  7. Can be refrigerated.
