Grown-Up Beanie Weenies

Ingredients
- 1 (28 ounce) can pork & beans
- 1⁄2 onion, coarsely chopped
- 1 jalapeno pepper, chopped and seeded if desired
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 4 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 (8 count) package hot dogs
- 1⁄4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons barbecue sauce
- 1⁄4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3 dashes hot sauce or 1⁄4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1⁄2 cup beer or 1⁄2 cup beef stock or 1⁄2 cup water
Directions
- In a large saucepan or dutch oven, fry chopped bacon until crisp.
- Add onion and peppers and cook just until softened, about 3-5 minutes.
- Add hot dogs and cook until lightly browned.
- Crumble ground beef into pan and cook until browned. Drain excess fat, keeping some in the pan for added flavor.
- Stir in all remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered about 30 minutes or until thickened to your liking.
