Grilled Lamburger

This was featured on the Food Network on the "Best Thing I ever Ate -- Grilled." It looked so succulent and wonderful I was ready to pack up and go to New York to try it! The patties are thick and juicy, the toppings minimal. Show more

Ingredients

  • 1 14 lbs ground lamb, ground from shoulder meat which is most flavorful
  •  feta cheese, sliced
  • 1  red onion, sliced and separated into rings
  • 4  buns

Directions

  1. Choose lamb shoulder meat and have the butcher grind it up. This is the most flavorful meat of the lamb. Form into 4 patties and season with salt and pepper. Grill.
  2. Choose a bun that will not detract from the flavor of the lamburger. Cut buns in half and grill both halves. Grill the patties 4-5 minutes per side for rare. When you turn the patties, top the cooked side with several pieces of the feta cheese.
  3. Top the bun bottom with the lamburger. Top the burger with a few onion rings spread over the feta. Add top of bun. Serve hot.
