Gretchen's Swedish Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients
- 16 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1 1⁄4 cups sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 3⁄4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 3 tablespoons cocoa
- 1 1⁄4 cups old fashioned oats
- decorative sugar
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and beat slightly to combine.
- In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, and cocoa. Add to batter gradually. Then stir in the oatmeal.
- Roll cookie dough into balls and then place on baking sheet.
- Using a buttered glass dipped into decorative sugars, press lightly to spread into more of a cookie shape. (These cookies spread while baking, so be sure not to crowd the tray.).
- Bake in the middle of the oven for 8-10 minutes.
