Great Grandma Homemade Ice Cream

Yields: 1 cup
Ingredients
- 4 1⁄2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 6 cups whole milk
- 1 1⁄2-2 cups sugar
- 8 -10 eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 (15 ounce) cans sweetened condensed milk
- 1⁄2 pint heavy cream
- 8 ounces imitation vanilla (real wont freeze well due to alcohol)
Directions
- Mix cornstarch with 1/2 c of milk.
- heat in saucepan until smooth & thick with wire whisk.
- in another bowl mix sugar, eggs, salt, abd condensed milk.
- Add some of the sugar egg mixture to the cornstarch to temper. lumps are too easy at this stage.
- add cornstarch mixture to rest of egg sugar mixture with a wire whisk.
- add vanilla and cream and top off with whole milk until your freezer is full.
- best if mix is made a few hours ahead of freezing to "ripen".
