Granola Recipe

My mother got this recipe from a La Leche Leauge member over 20 years ago. Now I get to make this granola for my daughter. I usually take half of what this makes to make my granola bars with. Show more

Ready In: 2 hrs 10 mins

Yields: 80 oz. approx.

Ingredients

  • 6  cups old fashioned oats
  • 1  teaspoon salt
  • 2  teaspoons cinnamon
  • Add 6 cups of any of the following

  •  soy flour
  •  whole wheat flour
  •  wheat germ rolled  wheat flakes
  •  sunflower pumpkin or  sesame seeds
  •  nonfat dry milk powder
  •  shredded coconut
  •  unsalted nuts (almonds, walnuts, peanuts or pecans)
  • Heat the following in a large roasting pan

  • 1  cup butter or 1  cup  oil
  • 1  cup honey, molasses or 1  cup maple syrup
  • 12 cup water
  • 2  teaspoons vanilla or 2  teaspoons  almond extract

Directions

  1. Add dry ingredients and stir together. Place in a large roasting pan. Bake at 250 degrees stirring every 20 minute for 2 1/2 hours or until browned.
