Granola Bars

This is basically Alton Brown's recipe for granola bars. His recipe uses sliced almonds, but I prefer whole almonds. After removing them from the oven, it helps to press gently to compress and spread evenly. Show more

Yields: 8 large granola bars

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and toast oats, almonds and sunflower seeds for 15 minutes and then lower heat to 300 degrees.
  2. Grease a 9x9 glass baking dish.
  3. Heat honey, corn syrup, sugar, salt, and vanilla over low heat in a small saucepan.
  4. Combine with the rest of the ingredients in a large bowl.
  5. Press down in baking dish and bake for 25 minutes.
  6. Allow to cool completely before slicing into 8 bars.
