Granny's Chicken Casserole

Serves: 6-8
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1⁄2 cup celery, chopped
- 1⁄2 cup onion, diced
- 1⁄2 cup bell pepper, diced
- 4 -5 cups chopped cooked chicken
- 6 slices white bread, cubed (we prefer wheat bread)
- 1 cup milk
- 1⁄2 cup mayonnaise
- 10 1⁄2 ounces cream of mushroom soup (I use Specialty Soup Substitutes - Cream)
- 1 1⁄2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- salt, to taste
- pepper, to taste
Directions
- Melt butter in a large skillet. Add celery, onion, and bell pepper; saute' until softened.
- Combine with remaining ingredients, mixing well. Add salt and pepper, to taste.
- Dump into 13x9" dish. Top with additional cheese, if desired.
- Bake at 350* for 35-45 minutes.
