Grandmother Lee Dicks's Pralines

Yields: 2 1/2 dozen

  1. Line 2 large cookie sheets with waxed paper.
  2. Combine all ingredients except pecans in heavy large saucepan.
  3. Stir over medium heat until mixture boils.
  4. Add pecans and cook until candy thermometers registers 234 degrees, about 10 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and stir slowly for 10 seconds only.
  6. Working quickly, drop by generous spoonfuls onto prepared cookie sheets.
  7. Let stand until set, about 2 hours and peel pralines off paper.
