- Cook sugar, light corn syrup, milk, butter, chocolate or cocoa, and salt over low heat until melted, stirring constantly. Bring rapidly to a boil; boil 1 minute or to 220 degrees (F). Remove from heat and beat gently until slightly cool. Add vanilla. Continue beating until of spreading consistency.
- **You have to put this on the cake while it's still a sort of liquid. It will not be firm like buttercream. This was my grandmother's recipe and I watched her sort of pour it on a layer, then spread, playce the next layers. On the top, you pour and then spread as it cools. It's a tricky one to pull off.
