  1. beat egg yolks, and add sugar --
  2. add milk and cook in top of double boiler till slightly thickened --
  3. soak unflavored gelatin in cold water for 5 minutes --
  4. pour hot mixture over softened gelatin --
  5. stir till smooth --
  6. chill until slightly thickened.add beaten egg whites, vanilla and heavy cream to chilled mixture --
  7. combine melted butter, sugar and cracker crumbs to make crumb crust --
  8. sprinkle half the crumbs into bottom of serving dish --
  9. spread chilled mixture over crumbs.
  10. sprinkle remaining crumbs over top.
  11. chill in the refrigerator for several hours before serving.
