Grace’s Whiskey Cake

Ingredients

  • Cake

  • 1  standard box  Duncan Hines butter cake mix (Golden)
  • 1  standard box instant vanilla pudding
  • 4  eggs
  • 12 cup  oil
  • 1  cup milk
  • 1  fluid ounce  whiskey (I use bourbon)
  • 1  cup  chopped walnuts
  • whiskey cake sauce

  • 14 lb butter (one stick)
  • 34 cup sugar
  • 12 cup  whiskey

Directions

  1. Cake: Pour first six ingredients into a bowl (except nuts). Beat for five minutes. Fold in nuts.
  2. Butter the baking pan and pour mixture into pan. Bake for one hour at 350 degrees.
  3. Sauce: Heat butter, sugar and 1/2 cup whiskey on stove. After one hour remove cake from oven and spoon ½ of the sauce over the hot cake while it is still in the pan. Let stand for ½ hour, then remove cake from pan and pour remaining sauce over bottom of cake.
