Glazed Doughnuts

Simple doughnut recipe, can be glazed with desired topping.

  1. Heat sufficient oil in a heavy, deep saucepan to 186 degrees Celcius.
  2. Sift dry ingredients into a bowl. In a separate bowl, beat egg, milk, and melted butter. Make a well in the dry ingredients, and mix in the liquid ingredients to form a soft dough.
  3. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface, and roll until 1 cm thick. Cut with a doughnut cutter, or with larger and smaller cookie cutters.
  4. Fry in heated oil until both sides are golden brown, and the inside is cooked. Drain on absorbent paper, and dip into a glaze of your choice.
