Ingredients
- 2 1⁄3 cups flour
- 1⁄3 cup sugar
- 1⁄2 cup shortening
- 1 cup molasses
- 3⁄4 cup hot water
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
Directions
- Heat oven to 325°.
- Grease and flour square 9 x 9 pan.
- Beat all ingredients on low, scraping sides, for 1 minute.
- Beat on medium for 3 minutes.
- Pour into prepared pan.
- Bake for about 50 minutes or until cake tests done.
