Ginger Creams

Ingredients
- 1⁄4 cup shortening, softened
- 1⁄2 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1⁄2 cup molasses
- 2 cups flour
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1⁄2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1⁄2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1⁄2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1⁄2 cup hot water
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
Directions
- Beat shortning and sugar until smooth.
- Beat in egg and molasses well.
- Mix hot water and soda.
- Sift dry ingredients together.
- Add to creamed mixture alternately with soda water.
- Chill for 2 hours.
- Drop by tsp 2 inches apart on greased sheet.
- Bake at 375* for about 8 minutes, until lightly browned.
