Ghoraibi-Butter Cookies

Made these for my son's history class, and fell in love with them. They are so good, you can't eat just one!! Recipe makes ALOT of cookies. Show more

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
  2. Beat butter in mixing bowl, for 5 minutes, or until fluffy.
  3. Cream in sugars.
  4. Add almond extract.
  5. Slowly add in flour -- If you do not have a heavy duty stand mixer, add half of the flour with mixer, the other half with a spoon.
  6. Chill dough in the refrigerator for up to one hour.
  7. Roll out dough onto a floured surface, into a rope that is 1 1/2 - 2 inches thick.
  8. Cut diagonally into diamond shapes.
  9. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
  10. Place one almond in the center of each cookie.
  11. Bake for 12 minutes. Remove and cool on cooling racks.
