  1. Proof the yeast in warm water about 105-115 degrees for about 10 minutes.
  2. Melt butter in hot milk; add sugar, salt, and cardamom.
  3. Cool to luke warm; stir in 2 cups flour. Add eggs; beat well.
  4. Stir in yeast, fruit peels, and nuts.
  5. Add remaining flour to make soft dough.
  6. Turn out on lightly floured surface; cover and let rise 10 minutes.
  7. Knead 5 minutes until smooth and satiny. Place in lightly greased bowl; cover and let rise until doubled, about 1 1/2 hours.
  8. Punch down; divide in 3 equal parts. Cover and let rise about 30 mins more. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
  9. Combine the glaze ingredients and drizzle over the bread.
