Garlic-Basil Vinegar

I lovemaking my own vinegar, the variations are endless. And it's simple, all you have to do is pour hot vinegar over the herbs, and let it stand for 2 weeks. Place a sprig of the fresh herb in the bttle, to make it look pretty, especially if giving as gifts. The recipe below is my favorite one. Show more

Directions

  1. Slightly bruise basil, and place in a wide mouth glass jar with garlic.
  2. Place vinegar in medium saucepan, bring to a boil. Pour vinegar over basil and garlic;cover with lid. Let stand at room temp 2 weeks.
  3. Strain vinegar into decorative jars or bottles, discarding basil and garlic residue;add additional sprigs of basil, and whole garlic cloves if desired. Seal with a cork or other airtight lid.
