Fungus and Garlic

Little goodies to serve at cocktail hour

Serves: 4-5

Ingredients

  • 20  button mushrooms, whole
  • 1  egg, beaten
  • 4  tablespoons  fresh white breadcrumbs
  • 12-34 teaspoon garlic powder (or more for a stronger flavour) or 12-34 teaspoon  garlic pepper seasoning
  •  salt
  •  pepper

Directions

  1. Dip the mushrooms in the egg.
  2. Mix the breadcrumbs and the garlic granules and season with salt and pepper (don't add pepper if you are using garlic pepper).
  3. Dip the mushrooms in the breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Deep fry in hot oil until golden.
  5. Drain and blot on kitchen paper.
  6. Serve with cocktail sticks and a separate sauce for dipping such as bleu cheese dip or ranch dip.
