Fruit Bars

Yields: 1 8-inch pan squares
Ingredients
BASE
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1⁄2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup butter or 1 cup margarine
TOPPING
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup cherries or 1 cup mixed peel or 1 cup mixed fruit
- 1 cup walnuts
Directions
- BASE: Mix with fingers or pastry blender, then press into 8x8-inch pan. Bake for 15 minutes at 350°F.
- TOPPING:.
- Mix in bowl. Pour over crust and bake at 350F for 20 minutes.
- Cut into bars when cool.
