French Dip Sandwiches

Serves: 8-10
Ingredients
- 2 -4 lbs chuck roast
- 2 cups water
- 1 (1 1/4ounce) package lipton's dry onion soup mix
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- salt & pepper
- 1 loaf small French bread, loaves
- butter
- 1⁄4 cup red wine (if you want a different taste) (optional)
Directions
- Brown roast quickley on both sides.
- Cover with water.
- Add onion soup mix, Worcestershire, salt & pepper.
- Cook several hours, covered, until tender.
- Slice bread & butter generously.
- Wrap in foil & heat 15-20 minutes until butter is melted & bread is hot.
- Slice roast & put on hot French bread.
- Stir red wine into gravy (optional).
- Put gravy in ramekins or lotus bowls for dipping sandwiches.
