French Bread Dough

Yields: 1 loaf
Ingredients
- 1 1⁄4 cups water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 1⁄2 cups bread flour
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
Glaze
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
Directions
- Place first 5 ingredients in your bread machine according to machine directions.
- Start the Dough program on your bread machine.
- When dough is finished, then place on lightly floured surface and roll into large rectangle.
- Roll up tightly starting with the longest edge, press seams to seal and tapering each end.
- Place on a greased baking sheet, cover and let rise until double-- about 40 minutes.
- With a knife, cut 3 diagonal slashes across the loaf.
- Combine glaze ingredients and brush on generously.
- Bake at 400 degrees 20-25 minutes or until done.
