Delicate, crunchy almond cookies that my Great Grandmother used to make. They are a little time consuming, but well worth it. Show more

Serves: 75

Ingredients

  • 23 cup  ground almonds
  • 3  tablespoons flour
  • 12 cup sugar
  • 2  tablespoons milk
  • 12 cup butter

Directions

  1. Mix almonds with other ingredients in a heavy saucepan.
  2. Cook and stir constantly until butter is BARELY melted. (Very important!).
  3. Drop by 1/2 teaspoonful onto well-greased cookie sheets - 6 cookies to a sheet.
  4. Bake at 350 until golden brown. WATCH CAREFULLY!
  5. Let cool slightly until you can get a spatula under them.
  6. Place each cookie on a clean broom handle to shape into a cylander. Let cool completely.
