Flan (Custard)

Ingredients
- 1 1⁄2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups evaporated milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions
- Heat 1 cup sugar in casserole or mold until dark brown syrup is formed. Turn the container so that the syrup coats bottom and sides. Beat eggs lightly. Add 1/2 cup sugar, salt, milk, and vanilla. Mix thoroughly. Cover. Set in pan of hot water and cook for 1 hour, or until knife inserted in the center of the custard comes clean.
