Five Fragrant Spice Pork With Asparagus

Ingredients
- 1⁄2 lb lean pork
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sherry wine
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon five-spice powder
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 cup fresh asparagus, cut in 2-inch lengths
- 3 tablespoons oil
Directions
- Cut pork into 2x1" strips. In a medium bowl, toss pork strips with soy sauce, sherry, sugar, five spice powder, and cornstarch until evenly coated. Let stand 10 minutes. Bring a medium saucepan of salted water to a boil over high heat. Add asparagus and cook until just tender, 2-3 minutes. Drain and rinse under cold running water; drain well. In a wok, heat oil over high heat until just smoking. Add pork and stir fry until just done, about 3 minutes. Add blanched asparagus and 2 Tblsp. water. Continue to stir fry until dish is heated through, about 1 minute. Serve with steamed rice.
