Filipino Pork Barbecue

Ingredients

  • 2  lbs pork, slices
  • Marinade

  • 12 cup soy sauce
  • 14 cup  banana ketchup
  • 14 cup brown sugar
  • 12 head garlic, minced
  • 12 cup  carbonated lemon-lime beverage (7-up or Sprite)
  • 12 cup  pineapple juice (optional, if not using, add additional 1/2 cup lemon lime beverage)
  • 2  tablespoons oyster sauce (or hoisin sauce)
  • 1  tablespoon lemon juice (optional)
  • 12 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1  dash msg
  •  skewer

Directions

  1. Cut pork meat into thin and long slices.
  2. In a blender, blend together soy sauce, banana ketchup, brown sugar, garlic, lemon-lime beverage, pineapple juice (if using), oyster (or hoisin) sauce, lemon juice (if using), pepper, and MSG.
  3. Mix together pork and marinade and keep in the refrigerator overnight.
  4. String the pork on the skewers.
  5. Place in hot grill, grill approximately 4-5 minutes each side.
  6. With the leftover marinade, boil over high heat in a medium pot for about 10 minutes. Strain and serve over hot rice.
  7. Note: Skewers can also be cooked under the broiler in the oven.
