Figs and Pears in Honey

  1. Pare the rind from the lemon using a vegetable peeler and cut the rind into very thin strips.
  2. Place the lemon rind, cinnamon stick, cardamom pod and water into a pan and boil for, uncovered, for 10 minutes, until the liquid is reduced by half.
  3. Cut the pears into eighth, discarding the core. You can peel the pear or not depending on your preference. Place the pears slices in the syrup, add the figs and simmer for about 5 minutes.
  4. Transfer the fruit to a serving bowl using a slotted spoon. Cook the liquid until syrupy, discard the cinnamon stick and pour the syrup over the figs and pears.
