Fig Preserves Cake

Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1⁄2 cups sugar
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup fig preserves
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
For sauce
- 1 cup sugar
- 1⁄2 cup butter
- 1 tablespoon corn syrup
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 1⁄2 cup buttermilk
- 1⁄2 teaspoon baking soda
Directions
- Mix dry ingredients.
- Add oil and beat until smooth.
- Add eggs and then add milk gradually.
- Add figs, nuts, and vanilla.
- Bake in a greased 13x9 inch pan at 325 degrees Farenheit for about 45 minutes.
- while hot, pour sauce over cake in pan.
- For sauce.
- Mix all ingredients, boil for 3 minutes.
