Favorite, Basic Chili

This is our favorite, basic chili recipe. It is so easy to make and easily adaptable. Want some onions and peppers? Throw them in! Don’t like a lot of heat? Leave out the crushed red pepper! I usually just throw everything in the slow cooker for however much time I have, typically 4-8 hours (the longer the better). It can easily be made on the stovetop as well; just leave it to simmer for a minimum of 30 minutes. Show more

  1. Brown the ground beef. Drain any extra fat.
  2. While the beef is cooking, combine all ingredients in your slow cooker or a large pot. Rinse out each of the cans with water and add to the slow cooker/pot. Add cooked ground beef.
  3. Cook on low 4-8 hours; or simmer on the stovetop 30 minutes, or until ready to serve. Top with your favorite toppings and enjoy!
