Family-Sized Hamburger
Ready In: 32 mins
Serves: 8
Ingredients
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 2 tablespoons mustard
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- salt & pepper, to taste
- 1⁄2 lb cheese, sliced
- 1 tomatoes, sliced
- 1⁄2 red onion, sliced
- 1⁄2 cup pickle, sliced
- 1⁄4 cup butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 large round loaf Italian bread, sliced in half
Directions
- Heat grill or oven broiler.
- In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, mustard, Worcestershire sauce and salt & pepper. Shape the meat into two patties - one 11 inches, the other 9 inches.
- Place the larger patty on a foil lined baking sheet. Layer on half of the cheese, the tomatoes, onion, and pickles; then add remaining cheese, leaving a 2 inch margin around the edge. Top with the 9 inch patty and pinch together the edges of the two burgers.
- Combine the butter and chili powder and brush all over the burger.
- Slide burger onto grill, or under broiler (about 3 inches from flame or broiler). Cook for 6 to 9 minutes on one side. Flip burger and brush with butter and chili powder mixture, then cook for another 6 to 9 minutes or until it's done.
- Place the giant burger onto the bottom half of the bread loaf, add the top, and cut into 8 wedges.
